Who didn’t want to be an astronaut as a kid, ey?

Well, you don’t need to be a space geek to know that the crew of the NASA space shuttle Atlantis are getting ready for the July 8th launch to the international Space Station.

This will mark the end of the 30-year space shuttle program. The astronauts will travel for 12 days, delivering 8,000 pounds of spare parts to the International Space Station. They are currently in training at Kennedy Space Center in Florida and this morning Commander, Christopher Ferguson, told press:

“I don’t think that the full magnitude of the moment will really hit us until the wheels have stopped on the runway. I’m not sure words will really be able to capture for the crew and for the entire shuttle workforce just how much the shuttle program has meant to us for the last 30 years”.

It’s exciting stuff, and we’re on the vibe!
